DOTr chief’s confirmation hearing set
MANILA, Philippines — Transport Secretary Vince Dizon will appear before the Commission on Appointment (CA) on June 3 for his confirmation hearing.
“The CA’s committee on transportation has set the meeting to consider Dizon’s ad interim appointment,” CA assistant minority leader and Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel said over the weekend.
Congress will reconvene on June 2 after a four-month recess and will adjourn on June 14.
President Marcos appointed Dizon as transport chief in February following the resignation of Jaime Bautista due to health reasons.
Dizon previously served as presidential adviser on flagship programs and projects. He also led the Bases Conversion and Development Authority under the Duterte administration.
Meanwhile, Pimentel also announced that the CA’s committee on constitutional commissions and offices will meet on June 4 to deliberate on the appointments of Commission on Elections Commissioners Noli Pipo and Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal; Luis Meinrado Pañgulayan, commissioner of the Civil Service Commission, and Douglas Michael Mallillin, commissioner of the Commission on Audit.
