Europa League club joins race for Greg Taylor as Celtic free transfer exit looks inevitable

Scouts watched him in Europe this season

GREEK side PAOK are lining up a move for Celtic star Greg Taylor.

The 27-year-old defender is available for nothing this summer after failing to agree a new deal with the Hoops.

Celtic gaffer Brendan Rodgers has wanted the Scotland international to remain in Glasgow, but it increasingly looks like last weekend’s Scottish Cup final was his final appearance.

Taylor, who cost £3 million from Kilmarnock in 2019, has been targeted by Thessaloniki-based PAOK, who are on the hunt for a left-back for next season.

Boss Razvan Lucescu has watched Taylor compete for Celtic in the Champions League so believes he would be ideal for his side’s tilt at Europe next season.

PAOK finished third in the Greek Super League last season, qualifying them for a crack at the Europa League

Taylor’s failure to agree a new Hoops contract by this stage suggests he’s moving on, and PAOK have now joined the chase to land him on a free in the next few weeks.

With the uncertainty over his future, Celtic have been scouring Europe for an alternative left-back, with Djurgardens' Japanese kid Keita Kosugi under consideration

The 19-year-old helped the Swedes to the semi-finals of the Conference League last season so has grabbed the attention of clubs across the continent.

Kieran Tierney will join ahead of the new season after signing off from Arsenal with a rare goal.

The Tartan Army hero scored on the final day of the Premier League season for the Gunners in a 2-1 win over already-relegated Southampton.

Meanwhile, reports elsewhere suggest that Celtic have had a bid knocked back for one of their top summer transfer targets.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has STRONGER transfer case after final defeat

We told you earlier this month how Celtic had shown interest in Red Star Belgrade wonderkid Veljko Milosavljevic.

The defender is just 17 but has already gained valuable first team experience and caught the eyes of several European clubs, including the Premiership champions.

Serbian outlet Meridian Sport claim that an initial offer from the Parkhead club has been kicked out, with Red Star standing firm on their demands of a €10million (£8.4million) price tag.
