KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Grandview man could be sentenced to up to 30 years behind bars after he walked away from law enforcement officials trying to arrest him for a road rage shooting.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Saturday, June 14, indicate that Mark D. Crosby, 30, of Grandview, has been charged in connection with a road rage incident.

A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, law enforcement officials were called with reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy who witnessed the incident.

The deputy told first responders that a man later identified as Crosby fired shots during a road rage incident. He attempted to take the suspect into custody, but Crosby got back inside the SUV and sped off.

Law enforcement officials noted that a victim reported later that day that Crosby had nearly collided with him at an intersection. That’s when he saw the driver get out of the Mercedes with a firearm and point it at him. He sped off in an attempt to get away, but did find one bullet hole from the incident had penetrated his license plate.

Investigators said city cameras led them to find Crosby’s vehicle at an area apartment complex the next day. He was taken into custody as he attempted to leave the area in a separate vehicle.

During an interview with KCPD, officers said Crosby claimed to have been at home all night working and denied any involvement in the shooting, even when security footage of the incident was played for him.

As a result, Crosby has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, crimes for which he could be sentenced to spend up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

As of Monday afternoon, Crosby remains behind bars on a $125,000 bond. A bond review hearing has been set for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, with a preliminary hearing expected at 1 p.m. on July 14. No further information has been released.
